You know the story. Marvel killed off Peter Parker, and replaced him with a half-Latino, half-Black character named Miles Morales. Divisive as fuck. Forced some claim, excellent others exclaim. This week the first issue dropped with him in it, and the question quickly shifted to: is this fucking comic good?
The answer for me? Absolutely.
Make mine Miles Morales! Prayers heard. ‘Cause. Bro. In the animated Spider-Man movie mine has been made Miles Morales.
Make mine Miles Morales! I mean, holy fuck. A Phil Lord and Chris Miller-produced Spider-Man was dope enough. But now it’s starring Morales? Yes please.
Fuck yeah! If the Ultimate universe lives, I’m glad this is the form its taking. Everyone and their dumb brother seems ruined by Galactus, leaving Miles Morales to pretty much run the fucking show. I love it. I love it!
Fact: the greatest Spider-Man of all time was Ben Reilly. Second is obviously going to be Miles Morales. Parker can be a third if he asks nicely. Reilly held it absolutely down as the Scarlet Spider for a bit, and with Marvel teasing the return of said Scarlet, I hope it means we’ll get some bleach blond spider-action going on soon.

Hey friends! It’s time. Time to make the comic book list. I am endeavoring to craft this list amid a steady stream of flu-powered sweat dribbling down my dapper dome. Wipe, wipe, wipe my brow and then I continue soldiering on. Though I may be sickened even as tomorrow falls, I’ll take respite in knowing that I shall be sweating my grimy paws over some new funny books. Consider this my shamanistic powwow. I will share the titles that I hope shall pull me through my delirium. You follow up this vision quest by dropping the titles that you have staked out this week.
Don’t know what’s dropping? Hit up ComicList.
There’s a new Spider-Man event coming up called Ends of the Earth, and just in time for it Peter is getting himself a new suit. Good lord, it’s pretty. Ugly. Pretty ugly.

Seven years ago today, I wrote a Monday Morning Commute where I was getting excited for the PlayStation 4. It was titled “A Cascade of Nonsense” and captured how stoked I was! Now, I’m writing an MMC getting excited for the PlayStation 5. Mamma mia, right? This place has been around for a long, long time. And I’m glad it is, to serve as a community and a chronicling of my adventures and excitements.
Small comforts in big times, my friend. They’re the only way I’m navigating this minefield of civic unrest, worldwide sickness, and Zoom classrooms. For if we can’t find them, then what? Doom! Gloom! Madness!
So, I’m about to tell you what I’m excited for this week. Then, I hope you’ll hop into the comments section and give me your own run down.
This is Monday Morning Commute. On a Wednesday. Live from the Space-Ship Omega.
Let’s do this.
