The Triangulum Galaxy Is A Faint Cosmic Swoon!

The Triangulum Galaxy is the second-closet spiral galaxy to our own, and yet we can barely see the son of a gun. What’s the reasoning behind that? Our boy (or gal!) the Triangulum Galaxy is small, only half the size of our own Milky Way. Due to that, its light is faint, and gets washed out in the night sky.
Lucas Shuts Down Fan ‘Star Wars’ Marathon. He Is All That is Douche.

George Lucas is walking proof that I can separate my love for a creation from they who created it. While I love the OT with all my little heart, the doucheability that Lucas possesses knows no fucking bounds. Really, Georgey? You had to shut down a fan run Star Wars marathon? Jesus Christ.
Review: Shadows of the Damned
As I write this review, my copy of Shadows of the Damned resides in the dark recesses of my local Game store’s used drawer. Appropriately, it’s been banished to its very own version of hell, not for its flaws, or for a lack of quality, simply because that was always its destiny: what it was designed for.
BSG Composer Bear McCreary Scored the Shuttle Launch
That’s all she wrote, ladies and gentlemen. The curtain closed on America’s greatest achievement yesterday with the final shuttle launch in U.S. history. I was about 11-10 miles away and it was hard not to get emotional as the Atlantis disappeared behind the cloud line; leaving behind an enormous trail of exhaust and history in its wake. And my god, the sound wave. It took about one minute for the sound wave to hit and once it did, it shook me something fierce. But what I wish I was hearing at the time of launch was Bear McCreary’s “Fanfare for STS-135.”
Press Start!: That One About Snatch(er) and Leaking.

Press Start! Weekly Top 5 list chronicling the happenings in gaming in the past seven days.
The abridged week always leads to a certain funk that bookmarks both sides of it. You begin checking out prior to the Holiday, and the days that follow are (for most of us, I’d wager) a haze of recuperation, lament at the end of the Holiday, and an attempt to gain your footing again.
As such, the world of gaming news is either unremarkable, or I frankly didn’t give much of a shit. Too busy trying to burn off the impressive caloric excess while simultaneously polish off the remainder of flesh and sweets that populated my house.
Japan Gets A Swank As Hell Resident Evil 15th Anniversary Box.

Japan is getting itself a sexy-object gaming monument to the Resident Evil franchise this Fall. Or should I call it the Biohazard franchise? No, Wolverine! Wait, where was I? Oh yeah, Japan. Swank ass Resident Evil anniversary box. Right, right.
THE LAST CIRCUS: An Operatic Orgy of Hyper-Violence and Love
From visionary Spanish director Ãlex de la Iglesia (Day of the Beast, The Perfect Crime) comes one of the most beautifully batshit insane movies you will see in 2011. Easily one of the most unforgettable films I’ve seen in the past five years, The Last Circus is an epic, operatic orgy of hyper-violence that gives a new meaning to the phrase “love triangle.” It’s also an incredibly confident and well-crafted film that’s destined for cult status.
Space Shuttle Atlantis Takes Off For The Final Time. Sadness Time.

Today the Space Shuttle Atlantis broke through the sky for the final time. Taking with it the hopes and dreams of millions of space-loving dorks like myself. Silently wondering just when the fuck we’re going to get up there again, take exploring the Universe seriously once more.
Friday Brew Review – Harpoon Cider
Rummaging through the Fourth of July liquid leftovers, I came across a couple bottles of Harpoon Cider. Even though my aversion to IPAs has led me to generally steer clear of Harpoon, my well-documented affinity for cider is mighty powerful. And so I’ve found myself yet again reliving a subverted childhood memory, pounding apple-drank and catching a buzz.
Thirteen New Stills From ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’. America, Frak Yeah!

Here’s thirteen new stills from the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger. As the movie approaches, my red, white, and blue priapism continues to swell. I am desperate for some release. Also, the more I see of it, the more I love Cap’s suit. Especially with the battle helmet.
Hit the jump to check them out.
