Epic Games has gone into a publishing deal with one of my favorite developers, Remedy Entertainment. As well, they’ve locked up the publishing rights to the next games from the developers of The Last Guardian and Limbo.
The rumor about The Last Guardian living? Continuing on without Ueda? It’s true.
So apparently the dude behind the PlayStation 4 is working on The Last Guardian. Maybe. Perhaps. But the question to be asked is, if The Last Guardian happens without Fumito Ueda, does it really happen? (No, btw.)
Abandon all hope, ye fellow Shadow of the Colossus and ICO fans. It looks like the totally-not-vaporware game The Last Guardian that was set in the same universe (or some shit) is dead.
The Last Guardian is “oh hiatus”? Uhhh. I know it’s not the same thing, but a game that hasn’t been shown for years isn’t one that I consider active. Hiding, “on hiatus”, in development Hell. These are all roses by another name. At least to me.

It wasn’t clear how this would affect the game’s progress. Now there’s news that other branches of Sony are being brought in to work on the game, and my asshole is puckering.
Fumito Ueda left Sony and everyone was all “OMFG, fuck what about The Last Guardian?!” Sony was all “Don’t worry, don’t worry, fools!” I believed them! I trusted them! Now GameStop is saying the game is cancelled. Jesus Lord what’s going on?
