Wracked in the Wasteland Part 4: The Island
I had to take a break. So many deaths. It was becoming work to keep progressing in Survival. I’ve come to accept now that occasionally I will be behind the power curve and the enemies will stomp me into oblivion until I catch up. I know this now.
After I took a week off, I wanted to dive right in (pun intended) to the Far Harbor content. I died a few times making my way up to the North East corner of the Commonwealth, but that’s to be expected at this point.
Once I finished the introductory quest and boarded the boat to Far Harbor, I was blown away. You’d think after almost 200+ hours play on a game, there is no DLC that could impress you or hook you the way the game did when it was brand new. I was totally wrong. The aesthetic. The vibe. The fog. Far Harbor sucked me right in.
I don’t want to totally spoil it in this entry, but Far Harbor is about a conflict between the Children of Atom and the humans of Far Harbor. The synths of Acadia seem to be in the middle, at least when you first get to the island. There are a lot of twists and turns to the plot of the DLC and I really enjoyed it. This entry covers the first half of my adventures on this foggy island.
Leaked: PlayStation 4 Slim images via online auction site
If these images from an online auction are any indication, it looks like Sony is going to be following Microsoft’s lead as far as console iterations. “Slim” version of current hardware this year, and a souped-up more powerful one next year. Also, if these images are legit, the Xbox One S or whatever looks wayyy sharper.
‘Black Mirror’ Season 3 Images: The Dystopia Now goes Retro
Fuck, I keep forgetting we’re getting more Black Mirror. What a time to be alive (and incredibly depressed by an incisive, gorgeously produced television that serves as a scathing insight into our modern technological nightmare-dream).
First Look: John Turturro as The Jesus In ‘The Big Lebowski’ Spin-Off
Yeah, I’m not really sure if this movie qualifies as a Big Lebowski spin-off? I can see pedants on both sides of the debate. It’s got The Jesus. But it isn’t a Coen Brothers movie. It’s, uh, got The Jesus. But it’s actually the remake of some French flick. So…am I excited? I’m not sure.
Chernobyl Wasteland could be turned into Solar Energy Farm
Ain’t this some mash-up of atom-punk optimism and dystopian-rot wastelanding. The Ukrainian government is hoping to secure the funding to turn Chernobyl’s exclusion zone into a giant solar farm. So dope.
Michael Peña returning for ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’
One of the best parts of the surprisingly dope post-Edgar Wright Ant-Man was Michael Peña’s performance as Scott Lang’s friend, Luis. Due to this, it seemed like a no-brainer that the actor would reprise his role. Still though, nice to have some confirmation. Nice, indeed!
