Quesada: Marvel Creators To Have More Input In Movies, Television.

Say what you will about his tenure as E-i-C, I dig Joe Quesada. The dude elevated the fucking game way back in the early 2000s. His run on Daredevil with Kevin Smith, his creation of Marvel Knights, his hand in the Ultimate line. He helped draw in huge names, ramped up a rivalry with DC which benefited both stables, and more. He’s been up and down since then, but the dude behind a renaissance (in my opinion) of the Marvel line deserves some credit.

In a new interview with Comic Book Resources, the new Chief Creative Officer of Marvel dropped some interesting thoughts. He spouted off about bringing Marvel creators more prominently into the movie and television projects.

Opening To The Wolverine Anime Is Awesome. AWESOME.

Until today, I had completely forgotten that there was a Wolverine anime in the works. This is nigh heretical, since it was written by my lord and saviour, Warren Ellis. The show debuted in Japan last week, and the first episode was centered around when  the “New York-based Wolverine discovers that his missing girlfriend Mariko is being held hostage in Tokyo by her father, who happens to be a nasty old crime lord!”

Outstanding.

What’s even better than that? The fucking opening intro. It has everything a geek like me needs. First: it has Wolverine. Already awesome. Then it has a chick in latex. Double awesome. Finally: it has ridiculously sick power metal riffage and noodling tying the entire intro together.  If you don’t feel your glands swell from this, there’s a pretty good chance I hate you.

Forsooth! Here’s The Thor International Movie Poster. Asgard Porn.

Marvel Studios has dropped the international poster for the upcoming Thor. Whatever becomes of this movie, the idea of strapping Chris Hemsworth into some armor is nothing short of genius. I know this, because every time my girlfriend sees something from the movie, there are audible squeals of excitement from her.

And me.

Images & Words – Sweet Tooth #17

[images & words is the comic book pick-of-the-week at OL. equal parts review and diatribe, the post highlights the most memorable/infuriating/entertaining book released that wednesday]

Life can be too damn busy at times. Too much work to do. Too many errands to run. Too many cults to join.

With free time a commodity, one has to be very careful about prioritizing. As much as it pains me, there’s no way that I’m going to get through this week’s stack of comics before next Wednesday. It sucks, but I’d feel like a real sonofabitch if I sat around reading comics instead of going to the pharmacy to pick up Grampa’s prescription.

So this week, I looked through my funnies and tried to determine which single issue would receive my attention. Again, this wasn’t easy – it sucks to have to put off reading Choker as Templesmith’s art is fantasti-gorgeous, and Wolverine: The Best There Is since it seems to be specifically designed for my ultra-violent sensibilities.

Nevertheless, I decided. This week’s featured collection of wordy-scribbles and colorful-doodles is Sweet Tooth #17.

Jean Grey & Haggar In Marvel Vs Capcom 3! Fap Like This! [Video.]

The line-up for Marvel Vs Capcom 3 continues to grow, as does the thunder in my pants. Anyone with a knack for anything Capcom or Marvel has got to be in on this shit, regardless of their feelings towards fighting games. Right? Well, probably not. But I can’t play them for shit, and I’m still sweating this title. Today trailers were dropped for both Haggar and Jean Grey. X-Men and Final Fight! Hells yes.

Real-Life Superhero Beats Ass In Seattle. Seriously. [Video.]

Oh real-life, you are so awesome sometimes. Also us nerds, we’re pretty much awesome all the time. In a variety of ways: really awesome, ironically awesome, pathetically awesome. This is a case of all of the above. There’s an actual superhero in Seattle. His name is Phoenix Jones. He changes in the back of a comic book shop. This is all true. And last Sunday in Lynwood, Washington, Jones thwarted a carjacker.

This is tremendous.

A real-life deranged dude who is something out of Kick-Ass is taking crime into his own hands. A tip of the cap to you, Mr. Jones. When you’re fatally shot and bleeding out in the middle of a street after trying to stop a robber from escaping from a convenience store, I will be the first to begin writing your effusive eulogy.

Hit the jump for Jones in action.

French Mag Spills Captain America Movie Details!

French magazine L’Ecran Fantastique features an interview with Captain America production designer Rick Heinrichs. It must have been the allure of France’s elegance, philosophy (what up, Sartre, Descartes, Camus, and others!) and gorgeous women, ’cause Heinrichs spilled a considerable amount of details pertaining to the upcoming flick. There’s some spoilers afoot, though I wouldn’t call any of them cataclysmic or shocking. Here’s what the production designer had to say, if you’re interested. But I warned you.
