Rumor: George Miller (‘Mad Max’) could be directing ‘Man of Steel 2’
Back in the day, George Miller was supposed to direct Justice League. He didn’t, and the world was worse for it. Zack Snyder *did* direct Man of Steel, and the world was worse for it. The result was a DCU I don’t really give a fuck about. A DCU whose reputation (in my eyes) could be recuperated by George Miller helming Man of Steel 2. I mean — can you fucking imagine? OH WHAT A DAY. (There are other reports that cast doubts on this rumor — but let’s just imagine it happening. I mean fuck, somewhat in the Multiverse it’s hapepning. Let us go there, if not here.)
‘The Force Awakens’ Empire Magazine Covers: The Light & Dark Side of Photoshop
Listen, I’m stoked for The Force Awakens. More than is probably healthy. But these are two pretty bunk magazine covers.
Tyler Bates returning to score ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’
Tyler Bates did the music for Guardians of the Galaxy. You know, the music that wasn’t a part of that insanely catchy mix-tape. But all the same, he provided some good tunage in the flick. How memorable were his riffs? I mean, they weren’t up there with Redbone’s participation. But what is?
Nintendo is cutting price of its 2DS to $99
I don’t have a 2DS. Or a 3DS. Or truthfully, enough time to add another console and its library to my existence. But shoot if Nintendo ain’t daring me to break common sense with their after their price cutting of the 2DS.
Xbox Chief Phil Spencer asks his compatibility team about *original* Xbox support. A lot.
Xbox. Like, I should be really excited about your vibin’, comrade. I own all your systems! I love the fact that your Head Czar wants *alll* the backwards compatibility. But with every victorious development that is revealed, I just wish Sony would handle their shit.
3D Realms and Gearbox settle ‘Duke Nukem’ legal dispute, with Gearbox keeping rights. They…want the rights?
The last Duke Nukem game, was by all accounts, a steaming pile of game-turd that would have been better off staying vaporware. But that didn’t stop Gearbox (the uh, privileged company who finally got to publish said turd) and 3D Realms from fighting over the rights to the probably-should-be-dead franchise. After much wrangling (or settling?), Gearbox has emerged the owner.
‘Star Trek Beyond’ casts Lydia Wilson
I’m not familiar with Lydia Wilson. But Star Trek Beyond has cast her, which means she’s obviously awesome and I anticipate enjoying her performance in the film. You know, the film that was co-written (I think?) by Simon Pegg and is being directed by the great visionary of our time, Justin Lin (this is a statement I don’t even remote believe anymore, but I’m just going to double down. Our culture has taught me that a #hottake is more important than actually believing in what you’re saying.)
