DC: Our Relaunch Isn’t A Reboot, It’s A “New Beginning.’ Corporate Talk, Yes!

Following DC’s recent Retailer Roadshow, senior vice president of sales Bob Wayne released a statement that was absolutely stunning in its semantics, double-speak and nonsense.
Face of a Franchise: The Batman!
[face of a franchise presents two individuals that’ve fulfilled the same role. your task — choose the better of the two and defend your choice in the rancor pit that is the comments section]
During my time as a passenger aboard Spaceship Earth, six live-action Batman films have been produced. Spanning across nineteen years, these movies have seen four different actors wearing the cowl, each offering their own take on the Dark Knight. As viewers, we’ve been incredibly privileged to see such different interpretations of a classic superhero.
But alas, only two of these thespians’ performances are worthy enough to engage in a fight to the death.
Marvel Making Short Films About Lesser Known Characters. Iron Fist, Son!

There isn’t any sort of Iron Fist short announced. Unfortunately. I can draw optimism that it may exist someday, with the announcement that Marvel is filming short movies based off of lesser known characters in their universe.
‘Thor 2’ Being Written By Don Payne. He Did F4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Oh No.

Marvel-Disney-Corpo-World has revealed who is going to be writing ‘Thor 2’. His name is Don Payne, and he wrote Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. First Kenneth Bragnah isn’t involved, and now this. My sphincter tightens.
DC Fans To Protest Reboot At Comic-Con. Solidarity!

Man, and I thought that I was a trifle bit incensed about the forthcoming DCnU. There’s going to be a full-fledged protest going down at Comic-Con this year. If you’re feelin’ the vibe and the commitment of these fellow fans, you can take part in the DC Original Protest Walk.
‘Thor 2’ Confirmed for Summer of 2013, Without Kenneth Branagh. Fail.

I thought that Thor was a fun, vacuous journey through hammers and Gods and action sequences. Enough to be excited for a sequel a couple years done the road. Marvel confirmed the obvious today, officially announced a second movie was coming. Then they done and crushed my little heart, announced Kenneth Branagh wouldn’t be returning.
International ‘Captain America’ Poster Features The Red Skull and Cap’s Boys.

After the sort of hogwash that I’ve seen this summer, I’m really looking forward to Captain America. The trailer for it that played prior to Transformers: American Freedom Fuck Yeah! was the best part of that movie going experience. Don’t let me down, Evans et al.
Hit the jump for a new international poster for the flick.
Warren Ellis Talks About DC’s Reboot and Their Digital Strategy. Read This.

Warren Ellis is a bit of a touchstone of mine. When he writes I listen, and usually find myself raging at the mouth puppeting his sentiments because I find them so brilliant. Today Ellis posted a take on DC’s forthcoming reboot and their digital strategy on his blog.
It’s an excellent look at the inner-workings of the industry from a dude who has seen its grimy fucking guts.
New ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ TV Promo Drops Obvious Reveal.

There’s a new Captain America promo running on TV that drops a bit of a spoiler. I guess? It feels pretty obvious to anyone who has ever read or heard about the comic book. It’s still a dope bit though, so if you want to remain unspoiled don’t hit the jump.
Grant Morrison Lights Up Mark Millar In New Interview.
Listen. I’m a Grant Morrison fanboy. Listen. My distaste for The Being Inhabiting Mark Millar is well known. So it’s pretty obvious that I’m fucking biased, but hearing Grant Morrison explain that Mark Millar cost him his faith in humanity is awesome. It comes in an interview promoting his forthcoming book, Supergods. Which I didn’t know excited. Fuck now I’m excited.
