Paolo Rivera’s Take On The Cinematic Avengers Is Gorgeous.
Enlarge. | Via.
I was first made aware of Paolo Rivera through last year’s Spider-Man storyline “One Moment In Time”, and since then I’ve had a huge hankering for his artwork. Goodness gracious the time I’ve wasted not knowing of his existence! But so it goes. Anyways, Rivera’s artwork is gorgeous, and there’s an insane fuckload of it for free on his excellent blog. Today Rivera revealed an Avengers study he’s doing that’s (according to him) a work in progress:
A new Thor trailer just debuted, so I thought it would be a good excuse to show a recent study of the cinematic Avengers (they’re mostly based on the concept art that made its way on-line last year). I haven’t really read any Thor comics, but I’m still excited for the movie. I like what I’ve seen so far and I can’t wait to see them all on the screen together.
It’s fantastic. Get over there for more of his goodness.
Thor Trailer #2! My Chainmail Fetish Heightens.

I’m really excited for Thor. Like, really excited. Everything I’ve seen from the movie, excluding a few out-of-context shots, has me thinking this has the makings of a dope comic book flick. This new trailer brings some of the Thor Is A Stupid Bastard Misunderstanding American Cultural Norms humor that has come to pass in Thor stories, and it’s all a bit amusing. I’ll admit, I laughed like an asshole at the Facebook comment.

Henry Cavill Auditioned For Superman In Reeves’ Suit.

Slashfilm has a sneak peak at a Superman article from the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly. Forget the news that the film lacks a third act, and get totally excited over omfg – gossip. Apparently, when Cavill auditioned for the role of Superman, Snyder had him try on a replica of Christopher Reeves’ suit.
Oh Frat Boy Rock, you’re bananas!

Adrianne Palicki Cast As Wonder Woman. This TV Show Now Feels Real.

Adrianne Palicki has been cast as Wonder Woman for the forthcoming NBC series. All of a sudden it actually feels like the show is real. I mean sure there was a script for the pilot and everything, but fuck, this is actually happening. Well then. I don’t know Palicki’s work, but according to my powers of reading, she was in everyone’s favorite television show, Friday Night Lights. I realize I fail because I haven’t seen that show (yet), but here’s hoping she’s astounding in it.
Is she? Anyone with thoughts?
Fan Film, “Wolverine Vs The Hand” Is Pure Logan Porn.

Gary Shore has gone and done something unexpected. He’s turned Wolverine slicing and dicing his way through a legion of Hand ninjas into something beautiful. In this video, Shore conjures up a fan trailer for the second Wolverine movie, and it’s pretty fucking stunning.

Matthew Vaughn Adapting Comic Book, “The Golden Age”; Wants Clint Eastwood In It.

Matthew Vaughn is adapting the comic book “The Golden Age” by Jonathan Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards, and he wants some fucking starpower to do it. The comic book is about a group of retired superheroes who have to once again don the cloak to help out their grandkids when their own children fuck up the world, and Vaughn wants some big boppers to fill the roles. Atop his wishlist are “Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Warren Beatty.”
To dream!
Thoughts? Me? Meh. I’ve seen this concept done to death in the funny books themselves, and Watchmen already took a cinematic dump on the motif.
Super Harmony! Superhero Online Dating Service FTW.

This video imagines what it would be like if you could use a dating service to hook-up with superheroes. I know what you’re thinking, fucking lame. Naw son! Or daughter. The video actually delivers. On an ancillary note, who would you make a rush for, if this shit existed?
I’m all about latex, so I’m thinking Black Widow. Or Sharon Carter.

New Arkham City Screens! The Joker and Cleavage!

Every batch of Arkham City screens features at least one image pimping some glorious cleavage or latex bound babe. This is crop is no exception, and I think we all know how pleased I am with it. Oh yeah, the Joker is in it too.

Source: Zack Snyder’s Superman Already Sucks.

I already have my reservations about Frat Boy Rock’s Superman, and there’s news coming out of the Grand Motion Machinery that’s only fueling them fears. Snyder was thought to be helming up the 300 sequel Xerxes, but he’s been pushed off of it in favor of Guy Ritchie. The reports are that he’s getting pushed off for two reasons; Sucker Punch ain’t tracking well, and more salient to this column, Superman needs all his attention.
Brian Wood’s DMZ Makes My Tits Hard.

I figured I’d throw together a couple unintelligent sentences regarding Brian Wood’s DMZ. I’ve been burning through the trade paperbacks in an effort to catch the conclusion as it drops onto stands this year. It’s been an addictive rush through a crumbling reality for the main protagonist. But no less addictive. Wood gives the world Matty Roth, and like a variety of other main protagonists I’ve fallen in love with, the dude is immensely flawed. Starting off as a young idealistic journalist thrust in way over his head, I’ve been given the privilege of watching him make one poor decision after the next.
Brian Wood doesn’t fucking flinch.
