Source: Zack Snyder’s Superman Already Sucks.

I already have my reservations about Frat Boy Rock’s Superman, and there’s news coming out of the Grand Motion Machinery that’s only fueling them fears. Snyder was thought to be helming up the 300 sequel Xerxes, but he’s been pushed off of it in favor of Guy Ritchie. The reports are that he’s getting pushed off for two reasons; Sucker Punch ain’t tracking well, and more salient to this column, Superman needs all his attention.

io9:

So why did Snyder get forced out of Xerxes? The New York Magazine blog has two theories. One, that the third act from Snyder’s new tent-pole super hero picture, Superman is a complete mess, and the WB is forcing the director to focus all his attention onto his struggling superhero feature:

Warner Bros. needs Snyder to bear down on  Superman stat: Insiders say the closely-guarded script for  Superman[written by David Goyer and Christopher Nolan] suffers from major third-act problems, and the studio faces a ticking clock on that franchise, legally speaking; if a  Superman film isn’t in production by 2013, Warner Bros. loses the rights to the entire  Supermanfranchise and would have to re-license it from its original creators – the estates of Detective Comics writers Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster – at great if not prohibitive expense.

We all knew they were fast tracking this motherfucker. Aronofsky was up for the movie but didn’t snag that shit because he would have wanted to – gasp – fix the fucking script. Now there’s rumors abound that not only is Zacky not in the best of favors with WB, but his script is in something resembling shambles.

Someday. Some year. There will be a good Superman flick. But I got a feeling this isn’t going to be it.
