VIN DIESEL voicing GROOT in ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.’
Well THANEWS is that Vin Diesel isn’t playing THANOS. Ha! It almost rhymes. Eh whatever. Vinny D’s role in the Marvel Movie Universe has seemingly been revealed, and the good sir is going to be providing voice work for a character I know nothing about.
An Odyssey of an Interview: ULISES FARINAS!
Some claim that a mark of great art is that it conveys the creator’s enthusiasm.
If this is the case, then there’s no doubt that Ulises Farinas is one of comics’ greatest rising stars. Never heard of him? Oh, I hadn’t either, that is until I read his mindblowing GAMMA. In addition to its incredible art, compelling story, and ability to mash-up varied staples of nerdlore into one booty-shakin’ remix, GAMMA kills the reader with its passion. After reading this one-shot, I knew that I’d just discovered an artist who is truly excited to wake up and create!
And in a world inundated with paint-by-numbers, just-get-the-job-done entertainment, coming across something with a bit of zest and gusto is always refreshing.
In fact I was so won over by GAMMA that I immediately began scouring for more Ulises Farinas art. But my nerd-appetite wasn’t sated, and I hungered for more. As such, I thought I’d go directly to the gamma-powered source and ask for an interview. To the delight of all passengers aboard Spaceship OL, my questions were answered!
Hit the hyperspace jump and check out an interview with Ulises Farinas, an artist who bows to no one and bumps Rick Ross!
PS PLUS not required to RECORD AND STREAM GAMES ON PS4. XBOX ONE? $$$
How long until this Microsoft’s stance on this is rolled back? It seems like a swaying song and dance at this point. Sony unleashes a feature for free. Microsoft charges for it. We all gnash our teeth. Said feature becomes available for free on the XBONE.
RONDA ROUSEY in talks for ‘FAST & FURIOUS 7.’ All is wonderful.
Pop quiz! How do you improve what has been scientifically proven to be the best blockbuster franchise since the Mighty Ducks saga? You add Ronda Rousey. Many know her as the women’s champion in the UFC. I know her as that lady who I DATE in SOME SPLINTER UNIVERSE that I am desperately attempting to SLIDE INTO.
Rumor: BRYAN CRANSTON up for LEX LUTHOR in ‘BATMAN/SUPERMAN.’ I vote yes.
This rumor seems a little like paint by numbers. Lex Luthor is a maniacal bald-ass motherfucker. Walter White is a maniacal bald-ass motherfucker. Why not get the same talented actor to play both roles! (Seriously though, I’d be so down with this.)
Cosplay: FEMME SUPERBOY is spandex-bound superiority.
This Femme Superboy cosplay from DC Universe is frying my friggin’ circuits. They’re snapping, crackling, and popping in a hormonal stew that is equal parts gorgeous costume and attractive androgyny.
BUY THESE FLIPPIN COMICS!! (8/7/2013) – SCI-FI RENAISSANCE
Hey, folks! Johnny here, back again for another week of slingin’ philosophical about my favorite pastime! Looking at this week’s releases, I was amazed at just how much great non-superhero fare there is to be read currently. Not in a long time have I felt that the variety of books is SO great and SO varied, that it is the perfect time to introduce comics to friends and loved ones who might like comics, but maybe just don’t dig capes. Here’s what I’d like to grab this week, and hit us up in the comments and tell us what you’re looking out for!
Rejoice, Cinephiles! An Early Orson Welles Film Has Been Rediscovered!
A truly depressing aspect of film history is that it’s grossly incomplete. Roughly eighty to ninety percent of silent films are lost, and a good chunk of the sound pictures from Hollywood’s Golden Age have met the same fate. Preservation and posterity just didn’t–and, in many ways, still don’t–take precedent for the big shots in Hollywood. Saving a buck was more important than saving this art form. (In many cases, these lost movies, made out of cellulose nitrate, were melted down and used again.) Almost all of them are gone forever, never to be found, restored, or recreated. But every once in a while, a wonderful thing happens: One of these movies believed to be lost is rediscovered and, with a little love and care, restored. (For example, a more complete version of Fritz Lang’s classic Metropolis was a huge find in 2008). Incredibly, in these unique instances, the cinematic giants of old are given a second chance to move and entertain us. And I am happy to report that today is such an occasion because Orson Welles’ film “Too Much Johnson” has been found. So hit the jump for joy (and more information). Read the rest of this entry »
‘HER’ TRAILER: Spike Jonze’s Lovable Operating System
Didn’t even know about this odd, quirky, totally right up my indie sensibilities (that I rigorously deny). I look forward to probably blowing snot bubbles.
US District Court says BITCOIN is REAL MONEY.
Ah, my fluid-covered copy of Neuromancer loves this development. A US District Court Judge Person said that Bitcoin can be used as actual money. Naw I’m not really sure about all the legalese behind it, I just know that this is the future that Max Headroom promised me.
