Michael Fassbender still totally pumped for ‘Assassin’s Creed’ movie
Until I read this report, I had completely forgotten that Michael Fassbender was involved with an Assassin’s Creed movie. But indeed, he is! And he seems pretty stoked. Wouldn’t it be lovely if this flick was good? I mean — it seems like such an executable concept. But you know. Hollywood. Video games.
‘Doom’ co-creator John Romero making first shooter since ‘Daikatana’
John Romero is the co-creator of Doom, however he may be equally known for his insane, impressively large failure Daikatana. Both of which are excellently chronicled in the book Masters of Doom. And now Romero is ready to dust that epic failure dirt off his shoulder and once again enter the shooter game.
Robin Williams has passed away at age 63.
Robin Williams has passed away of a suspected suicide. Ugh. Dude will always be legend in my eyes for his performances in countless movies, from Mrs. Doubtfire to Dead Poets Society. Double ugh.
Monday Morning Commute: A Wave Of Babies!
Que pasa, friends. Caff-Pow here, still a bit ragged from a wonderful weekend at Boston Comic Con. But soldier on, I shall. Sally forth, I must. So into the ditches of minutiae, I plunge. This is Monday Morning Commute. A post dedicated to answering the simple (or maddeningly complex) question: what are you looking forward to this week? What are you up to? Excited about? Don’t be shy, I’ll go first.
‘Episode VII’ Non-News: Abrams teases droid hand in UNICEF winner reveal
Listen, I don’t want to hear it. I know this is non-news, inconsequential, whatever. But I’m just going to throw up my hands up and admit the truth: I can’t single-handedly reverse-engineer the media’s descent into madness. (A madness that some would argue began with the advent of the telegraph.) So yeah, whatever. A droid hand is revealed. Take it or don’t.

‘Better Call Saul’ Short Teaser: He’s Like Health Insurance!
[Update: Added a high-res trailer! Double-awesome!] A sad, pathetic, low quality, bootleg of a Better Call Saul teaser has broken the skin of Pop Culture and made an appearance for all of us to see. But uh yeah, naturally despite the crap resolution I’m still v. excite~

Weekend Open Bar: Comic Conning The Masses
Welcome, one and all, to another Weekend Open Bar! You are in for quite a treat this time because this is no normal Open Bar. Oh, no! If you didn’t already know, Team Omega will be reigning supreme at the Boston Comic Con again this weekend. A glorious three-peat if there ever was one. All of your favorite OL knuckleheads in the Boston area will be in attendance at various and highly irregular points throughout the next three days, so if you are geographically capable and willing to partake in the shenanigans and inspired lunacy, I highly recommend you make the trek in to hang out with the gang. It should be a damn good time. But if for some reason you can’t make it, then fear not: Coming here to share what you’ll be up to is the next best thing. And it’s easily the best thing going on this here Internet.
Warner Bros. reveals dates for nine DC Comics movies. Aiight.
With Marvel throughly dominating the movie game, it seems like Warner Bros. and DC want to remind everyone they’re deathly committed to churning out their own comic book movies. V. SERIOUS, V. GRAY movies starring V. SAD and V. BROODING CHARACTERS (#TrollAllDay #TrollAllNight). This reminder has taken the shape of nine revealed release dates from the company, with Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer confirmed to write and direct all of them (#TrollingIntensifies).
Though not yet confirmed, it’s also been reported that WB is in talks with Crayola’s Gray, Black, and Sad crayons, and the concept of Monochrome to sponsor their bill of flicks. Here’s hoping!
