“Rowdy” Roddy Piper has passed away at age 61.
Was at the movies when my phone began blowing up from fellow wrestling fanatics, letting me know one of our heroes has passed away. Fucking Roddy Piper. Between wrestling, They Live, and his Always Sunny appearances, the good sir managed to pry his way into my heart through multiple pop culture avenues.

Weekend Open Bar: His Name Was Stan
It’s the Weekend, folks. Let’s enjoy it together. Let’s enjoy it for Stan. The (maybe)-character from True Detective‘s second season turned punchline for half of the internet. Stan‘s no longer with us, but I have it on good authority that he would have insisted that we enjoy the Weekend together. I also have it on good authority that he was a fan of the site, and particularly of this weekly column. Stan liked nothing more than lurking in Weekend Open Bar.

I’m excited for Civl War. I’m excited to see Rogers smash Stark’s smug face. I’m also excited to see how much of a presence the Web-Slinger will have in the film. A mere cameo? A scene? At least we know (and have known, I know) he’s in the film.
Ugh: ‘Final Fantasy VII’ remake bringing “dramatic changes” to its battle system
My initial excitement about an FFVII remake has given way to a stark reality. Namely that Square fucking sucks and they’ll find a way to ruin the remake. Because they fucking suck now and will change things.
Rumor: ‘Star Wars’ TV shows in development for Netflix. Three of them.
Pros: more goddamn Star Wars. Always more goddamn Star Wars. Cons: Oversaturation of the franchise. Retort: It’s going to happen anyways, might as well just roll with it.
