Man. These guys get it.

CBR:

With “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” already in theaters and filming completed on “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” the franchise’s 2018 installment has fired up production. The untitled anthology film starring young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) has officially started filming, as revealed by co-director Chris Miller on Twitter.

Miller, who will direct the Han Solo film alongside his directing partner Phil Lord, tweeted the image of the film’s clap board earlier today along with the words “Han First Shot.”

The phrase “Han First Shot” is, obviously, a play on the frequently used “Han Shot First” slogan. That slogan emerged in the late ’90s in response to the special edition of 1977’s “Star Wars,” wherein Han Solo’s confrontation with Greedo was altered so that the Rodian bounty hunter shot first. In the original “Star Wars,” Han shot Greedo under the table without the Rodian knowing what hit him.

The clap board also reveals the Han Solo film’s working title as being “Star Wars: Red Cup.” That’s a reference to the popular brand of plastic red cups manufactured by a company named Solo.

Like “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” the still untitled Han Solo film will be an anthology film set outside of the Star Wars’ franchise’s main, numbered storyline. The film will follow the adventures of Han Solo in the time period before audiences first met him in “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.” Little is known about the plot of the film. It is known that Donald Glover will play young Lando Calrissian and Woody Harrelson will have a part to play in the film as well, most likely as Han Solo’s mentor figure. Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) will play the female lead.

This will be the latest in a long line of new Star Wars films, a stretch kicked off with 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The first anthology film, “Rogue One,” debuted in December 2016. The next installment in the new trilogy, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” opens December 15, 2017. The Han Solo film will arrive in 2018.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan and starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson, the still-untitled Han Solo “Star Wars” anthology film is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2018.
