Uh. Nintendo is eyeing the HEALTH MARKET for new platform.

Get your fucking health on!

Despite what this site and many others (we’re stupid together!) reported a couple of days ago, Nintendo  emphatically denied taking their software to other consoles. Sort of. I mean when Nintendo president Iwata says the company  “will use smart devices to attract customers to its hardware”, it feels like we’re delving into Obi-Wan speak. How are you going to use phones to entice customers? Demos, perhaps? Who knows. Vagaries like a fucking whirlwind. What do we know about the company? Well, it appears that their next move is…into the health market?

Nintendo is looking to the health sector for its next business move, with company president Satoru Iwata telling an audience of investors and analysts that its focus for the next 10 years is on “quality of life through entertainment,” the Wall Street Journalreports.

During the strategy briefing, Iwata said the key word for its strategy is “health.” He acknowledged the recent trend toward wearable devices and said Nintendo is going to “leapfrog” this by trying something different: “non-wearables to monitor your health.” Research analyst David Gibson, who was present at the briefing, tweeted that the company was seeking a “blue ocean,” which is a strategy in which a company creates new demand for a product in an uncontested market space.

Oh. Okay.
