A casting call for Avengers: Infinity War confirms what many have suspected. Namely, that Captain Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing in the movie.

CBR:

On the heels of a report that “Avengers: Infinity War” will begin filming next month, a casting call for the movie appears to confirm that Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon and more will appear. The open casting call for extras — which appeared on MovieCastingCall.org — lists all of the characters that will return for the penultimate “Avengers” film.

According to the casting call,

Starring in “Avengers: Infinity War” is BAFTA Award nominee Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin as Thanos, Saturn Award Winner Chris Pratt as Star Lord / Peter Quill, Teen Choice Awards nominee Sebastian Stan as Bucky, four-time Golden Globe Award nominee Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, Academy Award winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, ALMA Award winner Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Empire Award winner Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton / Hawkeye, two-time Saturn Award nominee Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America, BAFTA Awards nominee Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet, four-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Vin Diesel as Groot, Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man, British Independent Film Awards nominee Benedict Wong as Wong, Action on Film Award winner Dave Bautista as Drax, BAFTA Film Award nominee Paul Bettany as Vision, Santa Barbara International Film Festival Virtuoso Award winner Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa / Black Panther, three-time Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / The Hulk, and two-time Academy Award nominee Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man.

Of course, some of these characters — like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America — have long been confirmed for the film. Prior to “Doctor Strange’s” release, Stephen Strange was also confirmed for “Infinity War.” The casting call also brings Benedict Wong’s Wong, who debuted in the same film, into the fold.

However, there’s plenty of new on this list. It’s long been suspected that the Guardians of the Galaxy would appear, and the casting call includes Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Drax (Dave Bautista). This suggests that all of these Guardians will make it to “Infinity War,” though the status of their new recruit Mantis (Pom Klementieff) — who will appear in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” — is unclear.

Additionally, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa are both included in this list. Boseman will reprise his role as Black Panther following his debut in “Captain America: Civil War.” The “Black Panther” solo movie is set for February 16, which means T’Challa will get a film to himself before he arrives in “Infinity War.”

More interesting, though, is Captain Marvel’s involvement. After all, Carol Danvers won’t appear in her own “Captain Marvel” solo film until the following year on March 8, 2019. This means that the character may debut in “Infinity War,” though it’s unclear in what capacity she will do so.
