‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer: The World Is Coming Undone

Fuck. Can’t even pretend to play it cool. Just fuck.

Polygon:

The new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story premiered during NBC’s live coverage of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. It can be seen above.

The film stars Felicity Jones as criminal-turned-Rebel fighter Jyn Erso alongside Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and Ben Mendelsohn. In the movie, Erso and her team of Rebel fighters must find the plans to the Death Star that the Empire is building and steal them before construction is complete. The movie will feature Darth Vader, with James Earl Jones set to reprise his role as the voice of the character.

The trailer was originally shown off during Lucasfilm and Disney’s annual Star Wars Celebration, which took place July 15 to 17 in London, England. The trailer was an exclusive treat for those in attendance and, besides a small behind-the-scenes featurette that Lucasfilm posted on its YouTube page, the footage from that con was not released to the general public until now.

Rogue One, directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), is the first Star Wars anthology film from Lucasfilm, with the second — a buddy movie focusing on the origin story of Han Solo — set to be released in 2018.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters Dec. 16.
