‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer: Baddies Have All The Fun (In The DCU)

This movie, if the trailers are any indication, is shaping up to be very entertaining.

Comics Alliance:

Reshoots or no, the latest trailer for Suicide Squad debuted tonight during the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, offering a new sneak peek at David Ayer’s gritty super villain team-up. Packed with action, the trailer offered some new footage of DC’s Worst Heroes Ever, including Batman, The Joker and another classic 70s rock song.

While the last Suicide Squad trailer was brought to us via Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, the new trailer is set to Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz” (and to a lesser extent Grace’s cover of “You Don’t Own Me” by Lesley Gore). Even with the addition of Batman who makes numerous appearances (though you don’t see much of Ben Affleck’s face), this film feels like the anti-Batman vs. Superman. It’s a trailer when a character winks — Harley Quinn, natch — a bell rings.

We still don’t know much about the film’s plot (aside from the obvious basics), but it does appear that Enchantress is the film’s villain and has created some weird army of slimy mutants that the Squad needs to stop. How The Joker gets involved is anyone’s guess. (Batman seems to be relegated to one sequence with Joker and Harley, and he can be seen diving into a river to save her after she jumps in.)
