‘Gears of War 4’ Trailer: Sad Music, Jacked Action

The Verge:

It wouldn’t be a new Gears of War without a trailer with sad music. Aired during Fear the Walking Dead’s season two premiere last night, the new Gears of War 4 trailer provides a past and present look at JD Fenix, son of soldier Marcus Fenix. Eerie flashbacks set the stage for the fourth installment of the Gears of War series, set 25 years after Gears of War 3.

Just like the original Gears of War, the latest trailer mixes exaggerated and dramatic visuals with a sad song. This time it’s an impressive nu-metal cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” It’s certainly the song of the moment, having debuted in the Billboard Top 100 recently thanks to Sad Affleck. While the full game is set for release on October 11th for Xbox One, fans won’t have to wait too long after the trailer for more action. Microsoft is planning to launch a multiplayer beta for Gears of War 4 later this month, and to quality you just have to play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition by 11PM PT tonight to gain access to the beta.
