‘Hail, Caesar!’ Official Trailer: Coen Brothers Go Golden Age Hijinks
Yup. Yup, I’m ready for this movie.
Ethan and Joel Coen can do drama and noir like nobody else, but they’re also absolutelyhilarious. Those skills are on full display in the first trailer for their new film, Hail Caesar!It’s a period piece, set in Hollywood’s golden era, with George Clooney playing an aging actor that’s off his game. Said actor gets kidnapped, and with studio head Josh Brolin and his latest studio epic essentially held hostage, Scarlett Johansson and Jonah Hill are called in to help.
The teaser has a wild energy, calling to mind some gonzo mix of The Hudsucker Proxyand Fargo, with an ensemble cast including Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, and Frances McDormand making appearances. Basically, we can’t wait to watch this movie. Today. Yesterday. Maybe even some time last week. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until Hail, Caesar! comes out next year.
