‘Grand Theft Auto 5’ has sold 45 Million Copies. HELL OF A HEIST LOL.

LOVE

I played through Grand Theft Auto V during Winter Break, and it threatened to steal my soul. What started off as oh okay this is a game turned into I never want to leave Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Ever! Fuck you, Mom! These pants aren’t dirty, they’re loved-in. And then they had to “force me to take my meds” and “make me well.” Whatever.

Polygon:

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold more than 45 million copies since its release in September 2013, publisher Take-Two Interactive said today in an earnings statement.

Those sales figures are listed as sold-in — sold to retailers, not through to consumers — and factor in the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One releases of the game. Take-Two says “nearly 10 million units” of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTA 5have been sold since launching Nov. 18, 2014.

There are still more sales to come, as Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on Windows PC on March 24.

Take-Two also provided sales figures for 2K Sports’ NBA 2K15, which sold 5.5 million copies during the publisher’s third quarter, and the Sid Meier’s Civilization series, which has sold more than 29 million units to date factoring in the release of Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth.

Take-Two Interactive posted net revenue of $531.1 million for fiscal third quarter 2015, which ended Dec. 31, 2014. That’s down from the same quarter the year prior, when Take-Two posted net revenue of $1.86 billion — which is illustrative of the impact of the launch of a new Grand Theft Auto game on the publisher’s earnings.

I get why you’ve sold so many copies, GTA 5. And I miss your musk. Call me.
