‘Army of the Day’ Trailer: A Zombie Heist Movie? Sign Me Up.

In this post-pandemic world, this new world, there’s a new me. And this new me? Apparently he fucks with Zack Snyder. ‘Cause this trailer for Army of the Dead looks so fucking good-and-stupid and I’m completely in. Give me Bautista and Friends absolutely annihilating zombies in that glorious, overwrought, absurdly slick Snyder style.

Polygon:

Las Vegas is overrun by super-smart zombies in the first trailer for Zack Snyder’s zombie-heist movie Army of the Dead. The trailer, which Netflix released on Tuesday, also gives us a brief introduction to some of the crew pulling the heist. But mostly it’s about the zombies.

The trailer opens with Scott Ward (Dave Bautista), a former zombie war hero, working at a small-town diner before he’s hired to pull off a massive heist. Under the Las Vegas strip, there’s a vault with $200 million in cash. The only problem is that Vegas is walled off from the rest of the world and completely overrun with zombies. Ward puts together a crack team of thieves, badasses, and zombie-fighting veterans to pull off the job, but it’s more complicated than he expects.

Joining Bautista in the cast of zombie killers is Ella Purnell (Sweetbitter), who plays Kate Ward, Scott’s daughter in the movie; Ana de la Reguera (NarcosNacho Libre), who plays Cruz a former flame of Scott’s; Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery) as a cigar-chomping gunman, plus many more. Army of the Dead is directed by Zack Snyder (Justice League, Dawn of the Dead), who also co-wrote the movie with Shay Hatten (John Wick 3: Parabellum).

Army of the Dead is set to premiere in theaters on May 14, where it will stay for a week, before arriving on Netflix on May 21.
