‘Far Cry 5’ Teaser Trailer: Welcome To Hope County, Montana

I’m so fucking ready for some more Far Cry. So yeah, breh, you can imagine my geek glands fully torqued over here for this Far Cry 5 teaser trailer.

Polygon:

Far Cry 5’s first teaser trailer, released today by publisher Ubisoft, sets a scene of idyllic American beauty — or so it seems.

The 42-second teaser gives us a few glimpses of the backdrop for Far Cry 5, although all of it appears to be live-action footage as opposed to cutscenes or gameplay. It confirms the game’s setting as Montana, the fourth-largest state in the Union, in the fictional Hope County.

First, we see a forested valley where a human scream pierces the calm, disturbing a flock of birds. Next up is a river with a body floating by, followed by a man sprinting through thigh-high grass only to be cut down by a bullet. The teaser closes with a zooming shot on a church where a man is making a bell ring — by hitting it with an unconscious man’s head, as a choir sings “Amazing Grace.”

The aforementioned house of prayer seems to be the same one that a film crew visited earlier this month, when the Great Falls (Montana) Tribune reported the filming of footage at a church near Poplar, Montana, that would be used to promote a video game. “Crew members used a drone that repeatedly flew by the belfry filming a man fighting with another man near a hanging bell as a train rolled by on the tracks a half-mile away,” the Tribune wrote.

Ubisoft announced Far Cry 5 earlier this month with nothing but a logo posted on Twitter. The game is scheduled for release sometime before April 2018, and the teaser indicated that a full announcement trailer is coming this Friday, May 26.
