Evangeline Lilly has confirmed that The Wasp is going to be in the fourth Avengers movie. Where does this leave the franchise? Thanos will be making himself known in the third movie, Avengers: Finally Thanos Throws Down. I expected the film to continue this ultimate battle, but perhaps it will be focusing on the shape the MCU to come.

CBR:

The mid-credits scene in 2015’s “Ant-Man” teased a future appearance of The Wasp, portrayed by Evangeline Lilly, so it wasn’t a huge surprise to learn she would be the co-lead in the 2018 sequel. Titled “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Lilly will be the first woman to headline a movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beating “Captain Marvel” to theaters by a year.

Now, in an interview with Blastr at New York Comic Con, Lilly revealed that there’s even more in store for the Wasp; following her role in the “Ant-Man” sequel, the diminutive hero will appear in the untitled “Avengers 4” (previously billed as “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2”).

“There’s an Avengers series coming out, it’s a two-parter,” Lilly said. “The Wasp won’t be in the first part — she’ll be in the second part because they really want to preserve that reveal for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’”

This line of thinking is similar to why Captain Marvel’s debut, originally considered for the end of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” was changed. Instead of introducing a new hero to fans without any context or origin given beforehand, it was decided that the smarter move was to use a solo movie to flesh out a character and give fans a chance to learn who they are.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” arrives in theaters July 6, 2018.
