Steven Soderbergh is bringing a Western mini series to Netflix, and is being joined by screenwriter Scott Frank. The two of them worked back in the day on Out of Sight, and Frank is also responsible for writing The Wolverine. So there’s that.

Spin-Off Online:

Though his “retirement” from film work has meant Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh hasn’t made a traditional movie since 2013, the acclaimed director has been all over TV of late, and his latest producing project sees him reteaming with a past collaborator in a new genre.

Variety has word that Soderbergh is helping to bring a new Western mini series to life on Netflix called “Godless.” The series will be written and directed by “The Wolverine” screenwriter Scott Frank. The pair previously worked together on “Out of Sight,” the George Clooney/Jennifer Lopez-starring Elmore Leonard adaptation that proved a turning point in the careers of all the principals when it was released in 1998.

Details are sparse on “Godless” aside from the fact that Soderbergh will produce and Frank will executive produce alongside Casey Silver. The trade does note that the move is only the latest mini series greenlit by the streaming TV giant after recent projects like the “Gilmore Girls” revival.
