‘John Wick 2’ casts Common as film’s villain
Common? The villain for John Wick 2? I’ll take it. Used to be down with the artist, but somewhere between that X-Men movie and doing advertisements for car companies, the dude’s shine was lost on me. So cross Wick, Common! Drown his kitten or whatever the conceit will be for the second film. I’m going to enjoy this.
Common has joined “John Wick 2″ as the movie’s primary antagonist. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will play “the head of security for a female crime lord.” He will star opposite Keanu Reeves, who plays the titular character.
Common’s past credits include “Now You See Me,” “Selma” and “Smokin’ Aces.” He has also appeared as a series regular on “Hell on Wheels.” His next project is Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Suicide Squad” film.
The original film starred Reeves as a retired hitman bent on revenge following the brutal theft of his vintage car and the killing of his puppy. Produced for just $20 million, “John Wick” grossed $78.7 million worldwide.
