Mark Ruffalo: The Hulk ain’t in ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ So there is that.

The Hulk.

Don’t get your purple pseudo-undies in a bunch, Hulk fans. You may be clamoring for some more Hulk in Cap Americavengers 2.5. But it just ain’t happening. You, me, all of us are going to chill out and be patient in our desire to know where Banner went at the end of Age of Ultron.

The Mary Sue:

The reason for the confusion about the Hulk’s inclusion in the movie is because he was going to be in it, but now it’s been decided that he’ll sit this one out. Sorry, Robert Downey Jr. You’ve been overruled. In an interview on BadTaste.it translated from Italian by ComingSoon.net, Ruffalo explained,

The reason is too great to be revealed in this movie (Civil War) I was in the script, but then they removed my character. They don’t want to reveal where is he and why. I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon.

So unsurprisingly, wherever the Hulk ran off to and what he’s doing there are intended to be their own seismic surprise, and that one was ultimately deemed too large for the already (potentially over)crowded Captain America: Civil War. So where do you think Bruce Banner went, and, more importantly, why and how will it impact the future of the MCU in a way Joss Whedon described as “too amazing”?
