Kumail Nanjiani has a guest starring role on ‘X-Files’ reboot

Kumail Nanjiani in X-Files.

You know. Like, two weeks ago I wouldn’t have cared about Kumail Nanjiani guest starring in the X-Files reboot. Or more accurately, I wouldn’t have known the dude. But a week of binging Silicon Valley later, I’m excited.

Spin-Off:

Kumail Nanjiani, an “X-Files” superfan who hosts”The X-Files Files” podcast and starred in “Silicon Valley,” will appear in the third episode of the upcoming “X-Files” revival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nanjiani announced his role on Twitter with a photo (below) of himself with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, writing, “The lighting is weird because there is a UFO right above our heads.”

“I got to be in an ep of my favorite show (X Files) written & directed by my favorite writer [Darin Morgan],” he added in a follow-up tweet. “And this script is wonderful.”

In the new series, Mulder and Scully (Duchovny and Anderson) will investigate a possible alien abductee (Annet Mahendru of “The Americans”) at the behest of the conservative talk-show host played by Joel McHale. According to an earlier interview with returning writer Darin Morgan, the show will pick up with Mulder and Scully in a far different place than where they left off in the 2008 movie “The X-Files: I Want to Believe.”
