Nintendo is coming to Universal Theme Parks

Well, Universal was already my favorite theme park, courtesy of its Marvel alliance. And now it is like, totally, indubitably, my number one stunner.

Robot 6:

Nintendo will bring its video games characters and worlds to theme parks in a newly announced partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts.

Details are slim, but the agreement represents the latest effort by the video-game giant to expand its reach, and follows the announcement on Wednesday of the “Skull Island: Reign of Kong” attraction at Universal Orlando.

“Universal theme parks offer incredibly popular, innovative themed family entertainment experiences based on compelling stories and characters – using powerful storytelling and innovative technology,” states a joint press release, issued this morning. “Nintendo has created remarkable and imaginative worlds filled with captivating stories and beloved characters. Now, for the first time, those stories and characters will be brought to life in entirely new ways – only at Universal theme parks.”

A division of NBCUniversal, Universal has theme parks in Hollywood; Orlando, Florida; Osaka, Japan; and Sentosa, Singapore; however, the initial announcement doesn’t reveal which parks will feature Nintendo attractions.

It’s easy to imagine a massive Nintendo World, akin to the 20-acre Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando, but for now all we know is the “immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal’s theme parks and will feature Nintendo’s most famous characters and games.”
