‘LEGO Movie’ Batman is getting his own spin-off movie.

Batman

The incarnation of Batman from LEGO Movie is getting his own spin-off flick. How do I feel about this wonderful ancillary character being spun-off into his own movie? I’m not really sure.

CBR:

Will Arnett will once again voice the Dark Knight when the “LEGO Movie” incarnation of Batman stars in his own film.

While the popular plastic toy incarnation of the DC Comics hero has already starred in several video games and home video releases, the self-absorbed ‘brooding’ version that appeared in the hit kids flick struck a chord with audiences.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is being fast-tracked by Warner Bros., with an eye on a 2017 release, possibly even taking over the date originally planned for “The LEGO Movie 2’s” release.

Joining Arnett on the spinoff are Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who shepherded the original “LEGO Movie” to theaters. Chris McKay, the animation supervisor for “LEGO Movie,” is set to direct “LEGO Batman.”

I mean, I fucking loved Batman in LEGO Movie. (Along with everything else about the movie.) But does the Flying-Rodent-Guy-Gone-LEGO really work as a continuous bit? Or was Arnett’s Batman so fucking funny because he was a complement and not a centerpiece to the film? I suppose we shall all find out.
