‘True Detective’ wants ‘Fast & Furious’ director Justin Lin for Season 2.

True Detective.

If True Detective‘s Guardians get their way, Time will be a Closed Airport Strip where Nietzsche drag races Lovecraft. That’s right. Them fuckers are apparently courting my boy Justin Lin to direct some of the second season.

AV Club:

On the heels of saying that the next season of True Detective would bump existential despair to more of a recurring character role, occasionally popping by to say hell is everywhere, numerous sources are reporting that Justin Lin is being asked to direct several episodes. And given that True Detective’s first season was totally defined by the slow, meditative approach of Cary Fukanaga, choosing the director of severalFast & Furious movies (and yes, the Community paintball episode) could similarly hint at a lighter, more action-oriented tone. Deadline says Lin’s been asked to direct at least the first couple of episodes, which would likely establish the show’s general mood in season two—where time is a flat circle that is constantly spinning, like tires in a wicked car chase.

Of course, none of this is confirmed yet, much like the cast, which remains a group of rumored stars that includes Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn, and either Elisabeth Moss or Rachel McAdams. All that’s been confirmed so far is that the show takes place in California and revolves around the murder of a corrupt city manager amid a controversial transportation deal. But now it sounds like some of that transportation could be moving very, very fast.

I know that I fap a lot about the Fast & Furious franchise, while acknowledging how brotacular it is. That said, I think Justin Lin is a pretty good director, and definitely have his niche. How does this niche fit into True Detective? I don’t know. But if this rumor comes to pass, I’m eager to find out.
