DAN SLOTT and MIKE ALLRED planning something ‘RAD’ for MARVEL.

RAD.

No seriously, that’s what the promo image says. Something rad. And in case you don’t know, mofuckin’ Silver Surfer’s last name is Radd. So like. Yeah. You do the non-literal math.

Marvel Comics’ latest teaser image suggests that Dan Slott and Mike Allred are teaming on a new series, with details announced next month at New York Comic Con.

Like Thursday morning’s “Mindbubble” teaser, the background of the Slott/Allred image contains a “1,” hinting that Slott is potentially writing his first non-Spider-Man series for the first time since the previous volume of “Mighty Avengers” ended in 2010.

Slott appeared at a spotlight panel during WonderCon in Anaheim this past March, and, according a panel report from the Los Angeles Times, his computer was projected on a screen, with visible files labeled with the name “Silver Surfer.” Answering a question about the cosmic hero, Slott said, “It would be fun, and I’m, you know, toying around with it — I won’t lie, I am toying around with the idea. But let’s be serious — I’m doing like two Spider-Man books a month. It ain’t happening.”

Given Marvel’s focus on cosmic books (both “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Nova” launched earlier this year) and the silver letting of the word “Rad” on the teaser, it’s at least possible this could be pointing towards something in the Silver Surfer direction. The word “Rad!” — complete with exclamation point — could even be a double-pun on both (human) surfer speak, and the Silver Surfer’s original identity, Norrin Radd. Of course, it could very well be deliberate misdirection.
