The Dude’s High 5s: 2013 Anticipations

I know the gang Omega did our Year’s Best articles, and 2013 anticipations were one of the categories.  Well I have a busy week, so I’m going to use this High to both expand on that idea, and save time by not having to pick a category to write about.  So here are the things I’m early awaiting for the upcoming year.

P.S. I know I said Star Trek was something I’m eagerly awaiting, and I am, but it didn’t even make the list.

5. Homeland Season 3

I don’t know if enough of you people have seen Homeland for me to get into how much I want to watch season 3 of this show.  There was a point in season two where I had checked out, but I powered through a dumb side plot with two characters I don’t care about and I was rewarded.  Homeland will be one of those show that people will start watching when it’s off the air and wonder where the hell you were when it was on.  So here I am to say “Watch Homeland!”  It will probably be back in September.

4. Justified Season 4

Justified is a favorite show of mine.  Its one of the few shows that I don’t sick up when thinking about doing write ups for it.  I only have to wait a few weeks for this one too.

3. Game of Thrones Season 3

Book 3 of A Song of Ice and Fire is nuts.  So nuts in fact that it will be split into two seasons of the show.  I can’t wait to see the translation of it on the screen.  I think the thing I’m most awaiting is the end of season 3 when the thing happens.  If you haven’t read the book, don’t worry, I will not spoil it, but those of us who have, we know.  Its going to be talked about until season 4 premiers.

2. Breaking Bad Finale

If you don’t watch this show, &@#% you.  Now that that’s out of the way, how awful has the wait been?  Its been torturous.  Summer can’t get here soon enough

1. The Return of The Venture Brothers

Its been three goddamn years since we had new Venture Brothers.  The Wire, The Sopranos, Lost, Breaking Bad, Dexter, none of these shows took as long a hiatus as this.  The problem is, will the wait be worth it?  Will the episodes be good.  I saw this happen with Futurama.  The first run of Futurama is amazing.  The movies were somewhat good.  The recent episodes have been poor.  I don’t know if I’ve changed or they have.  I think the magic was just gone.  Therein lies the problem of the Venture Brothers.  That last episode, Operation P.R.O.M. was beyond amazing.  So will the new season live up to it?  I certainly hope so.
