Matthew Vaughn confirmed as director of ‘STAR WARS: EPISODE VII’ by Jason Flemyn?

Christ only knows, this report is going to be discounted six minutes after I go to bed tonight. By the time I awaken, it’ll be a joke of an article. Whatever. It’s Episode VII, I’m stoked, I’m going to cover it. Matthew Vaughn was one of the directors rumored to be in the running for the next Space Battle flick, and he may have been confirmed by frequent collaborator Jason Flemyng. Loose lips!

/Film:

During a recent interview, actorJason Flemyng dropped a few comments that suggested his longtime pal Vaughn was on board, or at least circling. Watch the video after the jump.

By his own count, Flemyng’s worked on nine films with Vaughn, including all four of Vaughn’s directorial efforts. So when the interviewer asked whether Flemyng and Vaughn had discussed Star Wars, the actor jokingly responded that he was “sure” he’d get approached by the director.

Then, seemingly upon realizing that Vaughn had not been confirmed for the job, Flemyng made an awkward expression and attempted to backtrack. See his response for yourself in the video below, from HeyUGuys.co.uk (via The Film Stage):

It’s tough to say whether Flemyng is just kidding around, or whether he actually let an important detail slip. His demeanor here is kind of goofy in general, so it could very well be the former. On the other hand, considering Vaughn and Flemyng’s relationship, it makes sense that the latter would be among the first to know.
