Kojima Clarifies, Says ‘Metal Gear Solid 5’ Coming At Some Point. A-Doi!

All that swagalicious boner time that a good portion of the gaming community and myself dedicated to the news that MGS5 was coming last week can be mildly mitigated. Speaking to Formless PlayStation Propaganda, he elaborated on the news that dribbled out of the internet’s anus last week.

Kotaku:

Today  OPM  cleared the air, publishing Kojima’s full quote regarding a potential number five.

When asked about the sequel to  MGS 4the series’ creator replied “I think we’ll probably have to make it at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea”. Once again, though, Kojima is downplaying his involvement. “As far as my involvement in the project is concerned, [it] probably won’t be as much as it was with  MGS1  — maybe I can do just one stage! For  MGS1  I made the maps myself, laid out the enemy routes myself, did everything hands-on — that level I can’t do again.”

Now those are the words of a man that feels obligated despite his overall disinterest. When Konami finally gets around to officially making  Metal Gear Solid 5  I wouldn’t be surprised if the extent of Kojima’s involvement was a half-hearted wave during the opening credits.

I’m fine with Kojima handing off the series. He’s probably ripped off enough Murakami absurdism, political investigation, and metaphysical panderings for a couple of life times. I love the series, let’s get some fresh blood in hurr.
