Steve Rogers Will Become ‘Captain America’ Again In July. GO FIGURE.

Marvel has a Captain America movie coming out this summer. However, Steve Rogers the Captain America hasn’t been holding down the role in the Marvel funny book for the past couple of years. No sir. That honor would go to Rogers’ friend with whom he shares obvious latent homosexual love for, Bucky.  However wouldn’t you know that come July, the storylines will see Steve Rogers once again becoming Captain America.

The ‘storylines.’

Not anything like ‘marketing synergy’ and ‘editorial mandates.’

Marvel’s Press Release:

“I gave myself a few challenges for this new #1 – I wanted to do the perfect Cap comic for anyone who walks out of the Cap movie and wants to know what’s next, but it also had to build on everything I’ve done on the book beforehand, too, and feel like the natural next step,” explained Brubaker. “Thank God Brevoort wrangled me Steve McNiven to pull all this off. Steve is at the top of his game, and no one draws action like him. I can’t wait for these issues to start coming out.”

Bitterness aside, I’m excited for whatever Brubaker has planned. The good lad is the writer who not only convincingly resurrected Bucky, but then penned a storyline that saw him inheriting the mantle of his fallen mentor. Brubaker penned it so damn well, that I am now a bit bummed that Bucky’s going to release his hold on the role. And McNiven? Homeboy can draw! Draw dang well.

Yet, here’s hoping there’s some sort of Bucky/Winter Soldier monthly for those of us who like our Captain America to wield guns and have prosthetic hands.
