Paul Greengrass adapting ‘1984’ for the movies

Big Brother.

Why do we want to watch 1984? Ain’t it like we’re living this shit? None the less. Paul Greengrass will bring to us proles a movie about proles based on a book about proles and oppression and regression and societal dumbing-down and the surveillance state. Us proles will watch it, most won’t get, and those who do won’t use it to motivate them. Whatever.

/Film:

Sony’s setting up another adaptation of George Orwell’s classic, this time with Paul Greengrass in the director’s chair. Well, it’s not like it’s a book that gets less relevant as time goes on.

The question remains if this’ll come before or after Greengrass’ return to the Bourne franchise, which is supposedly going to come out in 2016. Probably after, since that has a star and a shooting schedule for next year. But, hopefully Greengrass won’t confuse the two. 1984 with a ton of action sequences would be disastrous.

I hope it’s good, though. Maybe then after I try and teach my students 1984 I can stuff the digi-disc into the Televisor and be like, “moving images! doubleplusgood!, now do you get it?”
