‘Atlanta’ Season 3 Trailer: It’s after the end of the world, don’t you know that yet?

After three goddamn fucking interminable years (featuring, as the trailer notes, the end of the world), Atlanta‘s third season has got a trailer. Three fucking years! What a brain melting, soul-crunching time it’s been since the second season dropped. But at least we got more surreal, trippy, engaging Atlanta to help ferry us through these post-end times.

Pitchfork:

Donald Glover shared the first teaser trailer for the new season of his FX show Atlanta. The show’s creator and star tweeted it out via a link to a site called Gilga, which features a clock, the user’s location, and a link to the trailer. Featuring B-roll from various European cities soundtracked by Sun Ra’s “It’s After the End of the World,” the teaser closes with a close up of Paper Boi (played by Brian Tyree Henry) at a table and a final frame with “2022.” Check it out below.

In a series of now-deleted tweets, Glover also questioned comparisons of his show to Lil Dicky’s Dave, which airs on FX sister network FXX. “We got black people on here debating which is better, and IM the sellout?” he tweeted.

It’s been three years since the finale of Season 2 of Atlanta. In August, FX President John Landgraf confirmed Season 3’s premiere in the “first half” of 2022, and admitted its delay was partially related to the Season 4 production schedule, which had already begun. He also revealed that it was shot “mostly” in Europe. In February, it was announced that Glover would produce and star in a television adaptation of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
