‘Atomic Blonde 2’ in development at Netflix! Fuck yeah, to having nice things!

Atomic Blonde 2 is coming to Netflix, baby! I really enjoyed Atomic Blonde. Directed by one-half of the original John Wick team (though, I would argue Leitch has made far worse career choices since then), it mixed neon 80s synth and abject brutality! It didn’t really light the world on fire (though it was profitable), so I lost hope for a sequel. But, we have been rewarded, motherfuckers!

CBR:

Netflix is reportedly developing a sequel to the Charlize Theron spy vehicle Atomic Blonde.

According to DiscussingFilm, Theron will take on producing duties as well as reprising her role as Lorraine Broughton.

The sequel will be produced by Beth Kono through her production company Denver and Delilah Productions. In addition to the first Atomic Blonde, Denver and Delilah produced the Theron-starring Bombshell and Long Shot, and it will also produce The Old Guard, an adaptation of the Greg Rucka/Leandro Fernandez comic that similarly stars Theron.

c novel The Coldest City by Antony Johnston and Sam Hart, Atomic Blonde is set during the height of the Cold War and sees Lorraine Broughton traveling to Berlin to investigate the death of another agent. However, she gets swept up in a web of deceit and betrayal along the way.

In August 2019, director David Leitch confirmed a sequel was in development and said “A streaming service is into it,” though he stopped short of saying it was Netflix specifically.
