‘Bill Nye Saves The World’ Trailer: The Science Guy Returns April 21

Bill Nye is back on television with a new goal! An impossible, hyperbolic, though admirable goal. To save the world! Nye is at it, starting April 21.

Polygon:

Bill Nye will debut his new Netflix series Bill Nye Saves the World on April 21, the company announced today.

The series, announced in August, follows Nye as he takes on and refutes anti-scientific beliefs, including climate change denial. With a team of correspondents ranging from supermodel Karlie Kloss to comedian Nazeem Hussain, Nye is looking to bring back some of the scientific spunk that made him a staple in the lives of many schoolchildren back in the ‘90s and early ‘00s.

In the trailer for the series, seen above, Nye can be seen taking on a variety of experiments and breaking down the basic science behind some of the planet’s most complicated issues. There are special appearances from other celebrities, like Tim Gunn, who will help Nye with his scientific work.

It should be noted that Nye’s new show comes during a presidency that has refuted basic scientific evidence when it comes to climate change. On Nov. 6, 2012 newly elected President Trump tweeted “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” A few years later on Oct. 19, 2015, Trump made a global warming joke, alluding to the freezing temperatures being proof that global warming wasn’t real.

Nye is a leading figure in the conversation on climate change and has spoken out about Trump’s opinion on climate change, referring to the men and women he has surrounded himself with in Washington as “bad companions.” It’s unclear if Nye is planning to use his series to directly attack the Trump administration’s views on climate change and global warming.

All six episodes of Bill Nye Saves the World will premiere on April 21.
