‘Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour’ Trailer: Dropping October 11

Polygon:

Exactly one year after settling a protracted legal battle to regain exclusive rights to the Duke Nukem franchise, Gearbox Software has announced a remaster of the original Duke Nukem 3D. The game is scheduled to be released on Oct. 11 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as Windows PC via Steam. It will retail for $19.99.

Called Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour, the title was unveiled live during the Gearbox panel at this year’s PAX West in Seattle. The first trailer is embedded above.

The game will feature Duke Nukem 3D completely remastered using Gearbox’s newly developed “True3D Rendering” mode, which Gearbox says is capable of extremely high framerates. Players will be able to experience the game in its original 1996 graphics format, and switch between the two on-the-fly.

For 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour, Gearbox has gotten together many of the creative minds that helped to make the original Duke Nukem 3D and set them to creating new content. Designers Allen Blum III and Richard “Levelord” Gray have created eight new levels for the game, while composer Lee Jackson has created an all-new musical score. Even the voice of Duke himself, Jon St. John, was brought in to update the game with fresh one-liners.
