Rumor: Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ is going to be a Netflix movie

Iron Fist.

Hmm. Hmm. I really like Iron Fist, and this smacks of the character is getting the shaft here, in light of a Punisher push. But hey! Even if they’re pushing him out of the Defenders and giving him a movie instead of a series (fucking bullshit), maybe the aforementioned flick will be decent. What about you? Think this is legit? Would you prefer a series? Or a movie?

Uproxx:

For various reasons, Marvel’s got a lot invested in their TV arm these days;Daredevil was a massive hit on Netflix, and Jessica Jones is shaping up to be even bigger. But as Daredevil gets a second season, and Luke Cage is filming, one question that comes up: Where’s Iron Fist? Getting his own movie, apparently.

Take this with a grain of salt, but according to rumor site Peel The Orange, Danny Rand has been downgraded slightly:

Marvel will be turning Iron Fist into a Netflix exclusive feature film. This will give Marvel extra time and a larger budget for this project. The Punisher will replace Iron Fist as one of the four Defenders.

Credible? Sort of. As you might remember, Disney took away Marvel movies from the company, leaving the people who create the comics with only the TV shows to oversee. As a result, Marvel has something to prove and a lot invested in demonstrating that they’ve still got the production chops. Similarly, it’s hard to fit Danny Rand, a guy who got his powers by heart-punching a dragon, into even this particular superhero universe, although we’ve heard hints of K’un L’un and seen that his enemies are active in Daredevil.

It would also allow them to, you know, keep making movies, which isn’t the worst idea. But take this with a grain of salt until there’s an announcement.
