Matthew McConaughey turned down ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ villain role

Well, shit. Matthew McConaughey turned down the “villain” role for Guardians for the Galaxy 2. Which, whatever that means, has me thinking he turned down the role of Star-Lord’s dad. I get it. He’s got shitty Lincoln car commercials to star in while “maintaining” his “integrity” or whatever #baselessbitterness.

CBR:

Along with the news of the addition of Pom Klementieff to the cast of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” insiders have claimed that Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey declined an invitation to sign up as well.

Variety’s report on the Klementieff casting includes a line saying that McConaughey “recently passed” on playing the film’s unidentified villain, thus “leaving the search for that part still in progress.” The sources also say that both Marvel and writer/director James Gunn wanted to get McConaughey in on the “Guardians” action.
