‘Die Hard 6’ is happening, and it’s a prequel. Oh Dear.

Unlike its title would suggest, Die Hard just simply will not die. Two years after A Good Day to Die Hard was released, Fox has ordered a sixth installment for the franchise.
According to a report from Deadline, Len Wiseman, director of Live Free or Die Hard and the Total Recall remake, has agreed to helm a prequel film for the studio, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura set to produce.
The two are apparently already looking for a screenwriter to pen the prequel that would not only allow for a new story to develop, but would also leave room for Bruce Willis’ iconic NYPD cop John McClane to make an appearance. The idea is that the movie would show how a young McClane went from being a typical officer to the cop that simply wouldn’t die in John McTieran’s original 1988 film.
Since then, the series has seen four more entries in the franchise, some successful and some not. Wiseman’s contribution to the series generated $383 million at the box office, making it no surprise why the studio would want to keep pumping them out.
There’s currently no further information on the prequel, which is tentatively being called Die Hard Year One.
