I’m feeling this creature work!
Director Justin Lin is still hard at work making the next Star Trek film, Star Trek Beyond, with a cast and crew of hundreds. Simultaneously, that cast is continuing its Omaze charity contestwith a new video and, in it, they slyly reveal the first new alien from the film.
Weird. We don’t know if this is a significant species or just some kind of background character. Probably the latter. Though revealing some kind of formative character in this way would be incredibly rewarding down the road. Imagine this is one of the big bad guys, you forget about it, see the movie and then – BOOM – remember you saw it a year ago in this cheeky charity video.
It’s also worth mentioning that this is just amazing creature work. The details are absolutely stunning and it definitely looks like this is a mask to make this character work practically. Bravo, Mr. Lin.
