SARAH GADON joins ‘AMAZING SPIDER-MAN’ MOVIES, is pretty much MARY JANE WATSON.

Sarah Gadon.

Let’s not kill ourselves trying to figure out who Sarah Gadon is going to be playing in the Amazing Spider-Man movies. Days after the news that Mary Jane was cut from the second movie and was being recast, we get this news regarding Gadon. Hmm. Hmm! Let us all bite down on our bubble pipes. And go hmm.

Play List:

Welcome to the big time Sarah Gadon. Granted, she kinda already has after bagging the female lead forUniversal’s “Dracula,” but the actress who has recently been cutting her teeth on Cronenberg father/son films (“A Dangerous Method,” “Cosmopolis,” “Antiviral”) is now spinning an even bigger web.

ETCanada tweeted last night that Gadon “confirmed to us that she is joining The Amazing Spider-Man franchise,” but they didn’t have any details on her role. Of course this lead everyone to believe that Gadon has picked up the role of Mary Jane Watson, recently left vacant by Shailene Woodley, who had her scenes cutfrom “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” due the apparent streamlining/removal of her story to focus on Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. Of course, it later emerged that the role of MJ in “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” and probably the recently announced “The Amazing Spider-Man 4” was going to be recast — so is Gadon the new choice? That’s what many folks are guessing….

We’ll probably find out soon enough, but it seems weird they would be casting MJ for the third movie — which isn’t due until 2016 — when the second movie hasn’t come out yet, particularly when it has been made clear the character won’t be appearing in part two. Could we be seeing yet another new character being tacked on to the growing “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”? That seems a more likely scenario. Either way, speculate below. [via JoBlo]
