The Dude’s High 5s: Dual Roles

The Dude's High 5.

The concept of identical twins fascinates me.  No, not the Schwarzenegger/DeVito movie from the 80’s.  Actually having a duplicate of you walking around, interacting with the world is cool as hell.  It’s also great that twins are common enough that they aren’t treated like freaks … that’s reserved for sextuplets and the like.  What does my pointless drivel have to do with anything?  Well, today’s High 5 deals with actors pulling double duty, playing two or more parts in a movie.  When it done right, it’s impressive as hell.  Hit the jump for more.

5. Eddie Murphy – The Nutty Professor

The Nutty dog shit.

I am not a big fan of this movie, nor am I a fan of Eddie Murphy.  However, putting my personal feelings aside, Eddie Murphy did an impressive amount of work to become both Sherman Klump, Buddy love, and then all the Klumps.

4. Mike Myers – Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

This douchebag.

I’m only referencing the first movie here.  I don’t want to use this to fuel my disinterest for Austin Powers 2 or my disdain for Austin Powers 3.  The dual roles of Austin Powers and Dr. Evil launched Mike Myers into the stratosphere career-wise.  For people out there that hate him, and wanted to see him fall back to Earth and fall into obscurity, the Love Guru took care of that for you (as far as live action is concerned.  Those Shrek movies made bank.)

3. Michael Keaton – Multiplicity

 The Batman guy.

I suppose this isn’t a dual role so much as it is a quad role.  But that makes it a dual dual role, and therefore qualifies.  Be that as it may, the movie is pretty entertaining to a jaded, romantic comedy hating fellow like me.

2. Armie Hammer – The Social Network

This guy.

This one was done so well that I was shocked to find out that Armie Hammer was one dude.  I suppose the reason for that was that playing the Winklevoss twins was his breakout role.

1. Sam Rockwell – Moon

Sam fucking Rockwell.

I don’t want to say too much about the movie because maybe you haven’t seen it.  I’ll be vague.  Sam Rockwell plays two roles.  Sam Rockwell is awesome.  Moon is awesome.  See Moon.

So what double duty roles did you folks like?
