Monday Morning Commute: beyond the future.

Can you feel the winds of progress caressing your face?

If there’s a breeze at your back, you need to turn around! Post-haste! Hurry up, goddamn it, or else you’re goin’ to miss it! No, not the future — the future’s already old news. Passé. The stuff of anthropology. Hell, every average seventeen year old possesses a single electronic device that can be used to make phone calls, research vast informational databases, watch movies, listen to music, and navigate via GPS.

And that average seventeen year old also wants the newer model.

But rather than letting these futuristic winds whip our backs, let’s trudge forward. Scratch that — let’s sprint. `Cause the fact of the matter is that it’s easy to spin our wheels here in the future. Hell, how could it not be? We’ve got everything that our parents and grandparents could’ve ever imagined. But if we hold our heads high, welcome alien gusts that tussle our hair, and keep movin’ ahead, we could go to some incredible places.

Let’s go beyond the future.

After scoping out my pile of fun-detritus, hit up the comments section and tell us what you’ll be doin’ this week.

Time to party.

Rockin’/Live NIN Videos

I recently discovered that Nine Inch Nails’ official YouTube page has a ton of concert footage. While certainly worth watching for the production quality, these videos are exceptional because of the tremendous performances contained within. Reznor & crew don’t pull any punches, thus providing fans with documented evidence of the heart-on-sleeve catharsis that is a NIN concert.

And since the possibility of future NIN performances isn’t clear, these videos serve as a respectable next best thing.

Explorin’/Dinner for Five

I honestly don’t know if Dinner for Five is any good, but I want to find out. I’ve always been interested in behind-the-scenes material, and I’m hoping that this is what’s discussed when Jon Favreau brings together entertainers for dinner. Hell, lookin’ at the guest list, there’s bound to be some interesting episodes.

Anyone familiar with this show? Any particular episodes I should watch?

Gearin’ Up For/AUTUMN!

I’m not goin’ to deny the fact that it is still summer. According to the calendar, we’ve got eighteen more days of the season of heat-stroke and ice cream. But I’ve seen autumn pokin’ his head around. Sure, the days are still warm, but our nights our getting nice and cool. The leaves may not be fallin’ off the trees, but I’ve started to detect some hues of orange. And I’m not goin’ to head my enthusiasm for the most wonderful time of the year.

Roll out the pumpkins and head to the apple orchard, autumn is on the way!
