China Bans Time-Travel Movies and TV. Amazing.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: time travel is real. It has to be. It is the only reason I can think of that China would pull off what they did recently. Motherfuckers banned time-travel movies and television.

Slashfilm:

[The ban is] a response to the increasing popularity of some new films and shows (such as the TV series Myth) that use time-travel as a core plot device, specifically as it puts modern characters in touch with ancient Chinese military and political figures.

Loosely translated, the ruling says,

The time-travel drama is becoming a hot theme for TV and films. But its content and the exaggerated performance style are questionable. Many stories are totally made-up and are made to strain for an effect of novelty. The producers and writers are treating the serious history in a frivolous way, which should by no means be encouraged anymore.

Clearly China is worried about their country’s collective consciousness becoming wired to the fact that we are on the precipice of discovering the technology that will allow us to travel back in time and accidentally inseminate our own mothers. Or kill our grandfathers. Or maybe step on a bug and cause WW III or some shit. Suppression tactics will not work! Our mulleted time police will see the light of day, China! You can’t hide the truth forever.
