Justin Lin working on Cinemax series based off of project Bruce Lee was writing
Dazzling, unassailable auteur of our time, Justin Lin, is taking his talents to Cinemax. The man behind the greatest franchise of our generation (Fast & Furious, duh) isn’t just working on True Detective. And Star Trek. Naw. Dude is also spearheading a project based off Bruce Lee was working on. Aiight!
We all know that Bruce Lee was an awesome dude, but apparently he was so awesome that he’s still doing stuff 42 years after his death. That’s hardcore dedication. Alright, so the thing Bruce Lee is doing was actually done before he died, and it has just taken this long for the world to realize that it can make money off of it, but still. It’s not like anyone else out there is coming up with TV show ideas that don’t get picked up for four decades.
According to Deadline, Lee “spent many years” working on a “passion project” that tells the story of a “gifted but morally corrupt fighter” whose “lifelong quest for vengeance is undermined.” At some point after his death, his daughter discovered his notes on the project, and she has now handed them off to Cinemax and Fast & Furious director Justin Lin. Now dubbedWarrior, Lee’s idea is being developed as a potential pilot for the cable network.
Interestingly (or not, we don’t know), Warrior also happens to be the name of the magical martial arts drama that NBC was working on a while back. We haven’t heard about that one for a few months, though, so the TV world might not be in danger of having two shows called Warrior on it once. Really, though, if we can haveAmerican Crime and American Crime Story, two shows calledWarrior isn’t that big of a deal.
