‘Ghostbusters’ Returning For Three Nights In October. Pants Covered In Ectoplasm.

Last week it was revealed that Ghostbusters was going to be getting a limited re-release in theaters. Well, now we know when.

Slashfilm:

Sony will put the movie on screens through the month of October, but only on Thursdays, starting October 13. So you might get a chance to see  Ivan Reitman‘s original and still truly  entertaining  film on October 13, October 20 and October 27.

Sony says, “Ghostbusters  will show in approximately 500 theatres across the US on October 13th, 20th, and 27th, one showtime each day, in 2K digital with 5.1 surround sound. Please check local listings for showtimes. Ghostbusters will also be showing in select theatres in Canada and in various international markets; for more information on international locations and dates, please visit  ParkCircus.com.”

This is a good side effect of theaters getting new digital projectors as a result of the 3D boom – hopefully we’ll see more archival releases like this going forward. Keep in mind, too, that if you live in a big city there is probably a repertory house barely surviving that will show classic films on a regular basis. These re-releases to the multiplex are great, but support the little guy, too!

Hell yeah!
